General Open House 2008 - The Movie

16 December 2008
If you visited our Open House on October 19th, you were probably amazed by the enormous crowds of people visiting the Institute. Careful observers also saw a student with a handheld camera walking around. At the request of the Open House Committee, last year student at Utrecht School of the Arts Jolijn de Wolf has captured the entire event and created a sparkling movie. You can find it on our website at Open House and relive the hectic but rewarding day.

The movie once again shows what we already knew - the open house was a fantastic success. Rijnhuizen received slightly more visitors than in previous years: 853 people entered though our gates, most of them (81%) from Nieuwegein. According to our survey, most of the visitors had heard about the event via the posters we distributed throughout town, followed by tips from friends and announcements in the local newspaper and on the internet. The statistics show that we mainly received parents and grandparents accompanying (grand) children. They clearly enjoyed the exploration tour with fun experiments and Anouk Rijs' lecture on lasers. Don't take my word for it: see the enthusiastic young scientists of tomorrow for yourself in the movieclip.
